Life is full of change, transition and adjustment. This is part of being human. When we find ourselves challenged by life’s events, those are the times we all need a listening ear, support and encouragement. Sometimes, having counselling support can bring a fresh perspective to the situation. I offer a confidential and compassionate space where we can explore together those situations, feelings and thoughts which are challenging or of concern to you.
Concerns that people bring to me include:
- Changes and transitions
- Chronic or terminal diagnoses
- Dementia (diagnosis, employment changes, caregiver stress, residential care decisions, relationship and role adjustments)
- Loss and Grief
- Loneliness
- Preparing for/adjusting to living in a residential care setting
- Resilience building
My approach is person-centred, compassionate and reflective. It is influenced by my social work background, and from training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I work from Village Health, 30 Lincoln Road, Christchurch on Mondays and Tuesdays. I am available also via phone, Zoom or Skype. While most work is currently with individuals and couples, I am open to facilitating small groups.
Cost is clarified at the time of initial contact. If you are eligible for the Disability Allowance through WINZ, we may be able to access this financial support for counselling.
